Went off for a week on my little Norman and shared a few locks with a boat I have not come across before.It was a Wavy Rider,a little forward control boat with a sliding canopy,the day cabin was in the aft section and the very small sleeping section was in the bows.It looked quite a neat design,but this one had a very noisy and smokey two stroke outboard that wouldn't tick over.The owner had just bought it in Leeds and was taking it to Gloucester!
It was quite painful to hear the engine screaming it's goolies off and the almighty bang as forward was engaged and then the boat was off like a bat out of Hell!
The owner,a Romanian bloke called Constantine told me about the old communist regime in his country and it was not without it's merits.He reckoned it had a health service to rival our NHS and quite amusingly told me about the three yes's.
You want to learn? Yes we will teach you.
You want to work? Yes we will find you a job.
You don't want to work? Yes,you will go to prison.(could do with a bit of that here!)
I left him at Sowerby Bridge,and hope that he makes it to Gloucester without knackering his gearbox #128560;#128515;

Those Wavey Riders are quirky little boats. I like the rear opening section, like a car boot.
