Thanks, so I'm looking for a rotary helm that offers either port or starboard entry and I use the port entry option?

Is there room for the drag link to give full movement the other side?

Not yet there isn't!
But behind the splash well side there is a void, so once I have cut a hole for the drag link and cable to move into it should be fine.
I may also have to change or adapt the drag link as it is cranked the wrong way as designed for the usual starboard cable system.

You will need to epoxy any exposed wood with the extra holes, norman transoms are prone to rotting from the inside.
Idealy it need to drain any water back to the splash well if there's a good way to do it, remember glass roving for epoxy and chopped strand mat for polyester resin as epoxy doesn't disolve the binders in CSM, epoxy sticks to wood much better than polyester.

Sleepless nights fretting about getting it sorted all over.

And the new helm unit fitted and wheel back on.

Thanks for all those who gave advice
