Does anyone know we're I can source the motor that tilts my volvo 270 out drive. Also is there anyone who can explain why the out drive is noisy when it's on full lock.

Afraid I know nowt at all about Volvo outdrives. Very few ever appeared on Normans. Maybe Dave or Clive might have an idea. You might be better asking on The Yachting & Boating World website.

I would think they are more common on there!

Never had any dealings with VP outdrives, sorry.
Although noisy only on full lock suggests cv joints on the shaft in the top of the drive running dry.

Me neither, but noise on lock would suggest CV or UJ joints or whatever variation VP drives have as that is the only variable. Suspect they are knackered, doubt it is a lube issue. Noise usually means extreme wear. Sorry - not a VP engineer!

What engine is it attached to?
I thing there are 2x UJ's in the top unit between stern plate and upper gearbox, maybe someone like bailey morris could find a matching uj if you took it to them.

There you go. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Volvo-Penta-270-280-U-joint-assembly-Drive-shaft-10spl-new-joints-839028-/292693446658
The image here shows grease nipples so can maybe be re-greased, if the nipples are because it's a non original UJ then that means there are others that would fit and no doubt much cheaper to get (local bearing supplier).

Expensive for a s/h unit Dave, but you could well be right and after-market car parts could well fit - like Morris Minor UJ's for example or old Austin A35 or indeed anything where the measurements fit.
Crikey - haven't changed UJ's for years!

Edit: Bailey Morris look to be the boys to go toQ

UJ's are very easy to locate. You just measure the diameter of the cups and across the UJ and do a search. In south wales not far from me there is a company called Bar props. They can repair all types of prop shafts and supply UJ's
