Having bent my aly prop hitting something underwater for the second time in a couple of weeks,[see my post "Rubbing Strakes"]it really does look now as though it has been attacked by a mob of hungry pirhanas.I'm not a prop expert, but I think it's scrap. It's obviously going to happen again cruising my local open sewer/rubbish dump, and I would like to ask here if a plastic prop would be better than aluminium in these conditions.Looking online, there is little difference in price.
Any advice/observations would be most welcome.

It is almost certainly NOT scrap Harold, Streamlined Propellers will replace broken bent or missing blades and re-true pitch and diameter as good as new. They are not that expensive, and do ask them for their "pattern" replacement prices, they do one where the centre boss and blades are separate so if the boss insert fails you just replace it, and not the entire prop. (Assuming you have a rubber-seated splined centre boss)

BUT the same cannot be said for a plastic prop - shred the blades and it's scrap, end of.

Received my prop back from Streamlined today, can't believe it's the same bent and chewed up one I sent! It's like new.
Many thanks Clive, your advice on this and other topics has been invaluable to me and I am sure many many others.
May you live for a thousand years.
