Following the theft of my portable fuel tank from my 23, I have considered reverting to the fixed stainless steel tank, installed by the previous owner. It is under the floor in the cockpit, with a proper deck-mounted filler and breather etc. However I recall reading a post where someone doubted whether an outboard's fuel pump would be able to draw fuel up so far. Would it be feasible to install a 12v fuel pump, that was powered when the ignition was on? I have seen a number of fuel pumps on e-bay, and wonder whether they will switch off when the carb is fully primed. I have a 15 HP Mariner 4-stroke. Any ideas?
As long as you put a primer bulb in the fuel line it should be able to draw fuel ok once primed, remember you need filler bonded to tank and ISO7840 filler/fuel/vent lines and proper flame trapped vent pipe with goose-neck arrangement for BSSC.
