My floorboards seem to be damp all the time in my Norman 23ft. So I took the 2 middle ones up and one side one by the kitchen. The wood underneath that is supporting on the fibreglass bottom is absolutely sodden and pools of water are gathering. I know this may sound stupid but should there be drainage channels. I know you will never be able to have a totally waterproof boat, but need some advise please if there is anything I can do about this. We do pump bilge pump but never seems to be much' cos we do it regular, but that's at the front not in the middle. Any help appreciated thank you x

You should not have water in a grp boat. The main culprit is windows leaking/ canopy. Its a case of drying out and elimination. The best place for a bilge pump is under the cockpit floor as the stern is always the lowest point or should be.

I started life with nothing and I still have some left

Check your water pipes and Houdini hatch for leaks too.

We boated for around 5 yrs before seeing water in the middle floor.

At that time we put it down to build up of condensation due to gas heating etc.

Didnt see prob again till a leaky window & canopy.

If yrs is the same as ours (ie not ballasted heavy on the bow) water can collect in the middle.

Suck it all out with a sponge & then monitor the situation. We did develop a leak on a old transducer that filled the middle bilge !

Once u have got it dry just keep a eye on it
