The problem with boats at the lower end of the market, is that the cost of rebuilding them is more than the boats worth. Transport,storage, engine, probably outdrive, and the refitting costs are going to add up to a small fortune.
I know everybody has different skills and facilities, and the costs are different for everybody, but you have really got to think that building the boat is the hobby not sailing it. I suppose that's why so many people get to the end of a project, sell it and start again. Or why there are so many unfinished projects around.
The above is a long winded way of saying don't buy it if you think its a cheap way of going boating. But if you like rebuilding boats keep an eye on it and put a daft bid in at the end.

My old marina have given away similar sorts of project boats just to get rid of them as they can't be bothered to break them up, usually when they are owed money on them by a previous owner.

Re Sequana. I owned Sequana some years ago and sold it to William. At the time the engine (a perkins diesel) was quiet, smooth and started first time. The leg had been professionally refurbished at a cost of £1200 but the interior needed a refit. The exterior had been resprayed by the previous owner who had a sprayshop. William gutted her and lost interest having also bought a sea going boat. I remember Lester Mayo tried to buy her when she had been dumped in a yard somewhere but the yard owner was asking silly money at the time and Sequana disappeared until recently. It is sad to see her so neglected.

Hi Dave I did try to buy it about 3 years ago. She has been badly neglected by the look of her. I may have taken it on but keep it to yourself. I have just bought a Nauticus very cheap, because the engine was nackered. I have rebuilt it for about £450.00 a BMC 1500 and now back in the boat.
How are you doing with the Dawncraft?

| To refit a 32 you need at least 2 years maybe 3 and many hours. Mine is taking that long and I have a fully equipped workshop. Every piece of timber I have machined my self. plus I,m rebuilding the enfield and fitting a different engine plus a lot of things never seen before on a 32. It will be absolutely unique. |
