At some stage in the past, "Hunky 'B'" has had some anti-slip strip applied to the side decking. Much of this is worn or missing and I have been trying to find out if anyone does a replacement strip which can be painted - our decking has a Royal Blue strip which looks quite smart.
I did buy a roll of anti slip tape in white for mine, cut it into approx 8"x4" pads but didn't use it in the end. You can buy the stuff in different colours from ebay or a marine shop will extort vast amounts of money from you for special boat anti slip pads. I believe a lot of folk buy the special paint or mix your own with sand mixed in.
Thanks for your reply. I have found a number of suppliers of pre-coloured strip and sheet but have lost the website address which advertised a product which could be painted. The trouble is that none of the blues used appeals to my strong aesthetic sensibilities (whatever that means) - i.e. the blue ain't dark enuff!
If the colours arnt to yr suiting , then consider painting the Gunwhales with the paint of yr choice mixed with Cenospheres (Hollow micro glass spheres)
We use these as a micro filler in refractory concrete - Blakes also sell them as a antislip paint additive !
Should you not want to pay the 3-4 quid for the pot , let me know & I'' send you some for the postage !

Thanks for the information. I have already repainted the startboard strip using marine enamel with added matting agent and some anti-slip "granules" from International. Whilst I am sure that this did produce an anti-slip result (well I've not fallen off .... yet), it lacked the obvious "bobbly" effect of the previous finish. I was surprised at how fine the International anti-slip additive was (maybe it rises like cake?) but I suspect that your suggestion of the micro spheres would give a much more pronounced effect - is this the case?
Thank you for you kind offer to send me some "grit" but I have not problem shelling out on a pot - one of the cheaper outlays on a boat I suspect!
