| after spending the last year searching the internet for information on the callumcraft 23 i have come back here hoping somone can point me in the right direction to get some history on my boat as all i have found is a basic history of the company |

I believe that my boat is also a Callumcraft 23. As far as I know it was built in 1974 in Rochdale.

Also, have a look at this link. Its a bit frustrating as there is a side edge missing!

But it does seem to confirm the general thought that Callumcraft were the first boats built by North Manchester Plastics at Heywood. What we can't seem to fathom out is who were North Manchester Plastics before Ernie Wheeldon took them over. There has also been a suggestion that an employee of North Manchester Plastics, Cliff Dunn, split away and HE formed Callumcraft naming it after his son. It was Ernie though that shortened the name to Norman! Obviously we know Ernie also used the moulds from the 17 and 25 to make "Norman" versions. Or was it Cliff Dunn who took those moulds to make Callumcraft? Who knows?

One day I really would like to get to the bottom of what my boat actually is. It does look similar to pics I've seen of Teals, and of Callumcrafts, and of the interiors of Normans, Oh, I'm so confused. I do have the original manufacturer's plate still in place, and I have some of the old license documents. I'll research it completely ONE DAY. It will be a bit like 'Who Do You Think You Are' on the telly, but instead will be about a boat. Might make a nice story.

Thank you SO much. At last, a definitive answer to what my Boat For My Potplants actually is. And the plaque on the rear deck says "Built by F.H.Childs, Rochdale". So that's that!

Thats Great Neil ! - While I now feel vindicated , I am further intrigued to whether Teal have a tie in with Callumcraft / Norman.
Trevor - Do we still have any contact with Graham Wheeldon ? Its yrs ago when he confirmed my 22 was of '68 manufacture (It was his job to fit the windows!) I certainly don't have the email anymore & of course the old forum went 't*ts up!
