We're aiming to be around trent lock area friday 8th july, it's all open to weed/weather/pubs/lock closures wether we work to plan or not, will be online with the laptop and dongle so in communication along the way, would be good to meet a few people.

Guess you are maybe underway now Dave so look forward to meeting up Sometime next week (Unless you are spending yr last hrs in the local !)

Bryan - Bring Dermot along - You should be safe although I did see Chez browsing Ebay last night for this

Hopefully she is thinking of joining the local team.......

If Mabs is still watching the Forum (I understand she's not been too good) It would be nice for us all to meet up even without Foxy Lady & have a chin wag

Heading for gunthorpe tonight, just had a beer or two at the riverside at farndon, meeting up with Ali's neice tonight, still aiming or trent lock for friday night, will need to be back on the main trent for saturday night (probably trent lock again)as we have to be at cromwell lock for monday lunchtime to get bck across to the witham, what sort of lock handle is needed for the soar? We only have the tapered EA type on board (have a smaller canal type one at home).
Down to one outdrive for reversing as the tide was badly late at boston and the flood shoved us across a wreck without enough water to use power to avoid it, damage limitation was to go over it out of gear, tangs snapped off reversing catch, temporary webbing strap held for a while till de-weeding on the witham snapped the strap, luckily the early may run out resulted in finding awrecked boat with enfield leg, guess who has a spare!

I hope you had some ok weather on the run up from Farndon , the stretch from Hazleford to Gunthorpe & again from Gunthorpe to Stoke Lock is probably the prettiest bit of the Trent.

If you want I can see if I can source a reversing catch & bring it along ? (cant remember it too well - not had an enfield for a while! so not sure if its an easy repair!)

Soar locks are the same as all other BW ones we use these or similar

A quick post if you need one of these !

No sign of 'He who shall not be named' on the Witham then ? A quick email can sort that out for yr return trip !

May see you Fri night and or Sat !

Adi n Chez

That looks just like the handle we left safely at home Adi If yo're still up for a soar run can you bring one with you please?
The reversing catch is an out of the water job so it'll have to wait till we get back, I still have reverse on the other leg but it's no where near as good as both together so we just have to approach slower.
We saw 'he who shall not be named's' tub at it's mooring, we will be doing all of the witham Kev as we have to get from torksey back to boston to get across the wash.

Mission aborted!!!
Too high for the canal section through nottingham so looks like back to the ferryboat at stoke bardolph tonight and head back to the witham earlier than planned, theres more pubs along there
We'll just have to meet up elsewhere another time (unless you fancy a trip to stoke bardolph (I have no idea where it is by roads).

Cant remember Leo being that high (Although there is a couple of low ones now you mention it) Cant remember Glen having to fold his screen down when he brought the 22 Binliner back from Farndon (It was a while back)

Call into Colwick & Steal the Haddock (Im sure shes not being used)

Push on back & come out of the Humber with yr extra 2 days !

All figures we have say 7' 9" headroom and 3' 6" depth, we need 8' headroom at least and a minimum of 3' depth without allowing for shopping baskets/bikes/trolleys/general crap so if levels are down to get under bridges depth is down as well, not worth the risk this far from home in heavy showers when levels are likely to change, on a plus note theres a 2 for £10 food offer at stoke bardolph pub and the sewage farm nearby smells better than we will after more beer!

Our club get their princess 32's & Ocean 30's through the cut with no problems but, as you say your a long way from home if things go wrong.

Safe trip mate.
