That clears it up now, Just buy new extinguishers with a current date on and your`e good for 5 years with a visual exam from yourself and turning to make sure the powders O.K.
Yeah, it also means you tend to end up with some extinguishers at home that are out of date yet you can't quite bring yourself to chuck 'em away. We've got a couple in our garage like that. I imagine they will probably mostly work if called into service. Maybe. But just to be on the safe side I've decided not to set fire to the garage.
Keep the following points in mind when getting extinguishers: 1 As already said you cant run away on a boat 2 A 1kg extinguisher does not last long when fired, a 2 kg would be better, if that does not put the fire out its time to get off the boat quick. 3 if you have 2 1kg extinguishers and the first one does not put the fire out do you really want to start looking for the second while the fire grows.
