the restrictions at galgate are outrageous, indeed are they even legal? 1)the intimation is that the vandals are boaters, but not berth holders, this suggests that the vandals used keys. 2)given that the berth holders on the jettys'have been given notice to quit the suggestion is that the only "trusted" boaters are those with a narrowboat mooring. 3)these facilities were built prior to bwml and are/were bw assets paid for by all boaters. 4)in view of point 3, our licence fee for this year assumes a contribution to that asset, therefore we have a right to use that asset without restriction. 5)even assuming vandalism was caused by non boaters makes the restriction more baffling, why differentiate between berth/non berth holders. NB,re 2 above, not suggesting jetty berths have been given notice due to this, merely that the only remaining "trusted" moorers will be nbs. there exists a real feeling that cruisers (ie perceived less revenue), are being marginalised, one can only speculate upon the reasons for this, prime suspects would be: a) financial. b)cultural,ie within bw a "class" preference for narrowboats ?
The above are the thoughts/ramblings of an angry boater,(and the term "angry" defeats the object of boating in the first place). comments please, fellow lanky disenfranchised boaters !
