OK then, David Brown!

Found an entirely nostalgic advert .....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/David-Brown-Meltham-Huddersfield-Marine-Boat-Diesel-Engines-1954-Vintage-Advert-/401302897929?hash=item5d6f844509:g:kcsAAMXQzr1RyTzx

My Dad used to work for these!

I found this amidst a huge list of vintage adverts being ofered on fleabay and have just spent a while delighting in some of the stuff I actually bought, used or even wished for!

Have a browse! I'm sure you will find something that you once wanted or even bought!

Some enterprising person has clearly thought up a new niche market to make some money, not by selling the goods but selling the adverts for the goods.

Whatever next? Old glass milk bottles? Packs of unused Izal toilet paper (used to use that for tracing paper as a child), your grandmother's old shopping lists? The list of potential old useless items is endless.

If you have time to trawl through E-bay for that you have entirely too much time on your hands Trevor and ought to get out and cut the grass or paint the shed!

Aah - I understand. I bought a new Norman from Ladyline, Barbridge I believe, part-ex'd a Tollesbury Boat's CB15 on a Bramber trailer. Took the CB precariously balanced on a twin axle trailer with it's own trailer dismantled and stowed in the cockpit and across the top all lashed well down. 4 hour drive towing with a Series 1 SWB Landrover of 1954 ex-army vintage with a canvas tilt and no heater. It was January and very very cold in that Landy with freezing air coming in from holes and gaps everywhere.

Then it was assemble trailer, launch and recover the CB onto it's own trailer, and load the Norman onto it's trailer.

I remember the point at which I had un-hitched the trailer to winch the Norman on - there being no crane available, and the trailer lifting skywards with me standing on the draw-bar up in the air winching away with this geared 2-speed winch until the point of balance was reached when the front went down again with a crash.

Happy days and no H & S to get under foot!
