Sorry Clive but under the present climate which is worldwide, the fact that you seem to be enoying yourself atop the elephant could have serious connations in the long term for your younger passengers. In fact i who has never been on an Elephant or in fact never seen one live should warn you that i have 45 yrs experience in the safe use of Cranes and lifting equipment and will not require your advice about anything else. (Unless i ask)

Is this a Party Political Statement on behalf of the HSE? If so please understand that I am fully experienced in the use of gin wheels and didn't need a crane, all I did was put more EU citizens on one end of the rope, you know, Poles, Lithuanians, Romanians etc as the loads got bigger.

Not only that but I am ticketed in the use of telescopic materials handlers of all sizes, and used to put a few Poles on the counterweight if they struggled to lift 3 pallets of Southwater engineering bricks at a time and that we always left off the cargo net to save weight - see, that's the sort of experience they can't give you at those 10 minute familiarisation courses by CITB.

The elephant is cheaper than running a telehandler so long as you can turn them loose in a public park to browse but otherwise they can be bloody expensive to feed. They are partial to Dahlias and runner beans so the local allotments were useful too. A migrant with a wheelbarrow running behind picking up the droppings (£1.25 an hour and they think it's a fortune) means I had the best roses in Sandhurst.

I also think we must be on the same medication and both need to take another pill before Trevor comes along and smacks us both!

Seriously, cranes we got repped by, usually, Southern Contract Lifting, but I am also STILL ticketed for Telehandlers all sizes, cherry pickers, scissor lifts, chain saws, disc cutters, road rollers. dumper trucks all types, 180 wheeled diggers, 360 wheeled and tracked diggers, crawlers etc.

One of the benefits of being the Senior Project Manager was planting myself on every conceivable training course over the years as for me it was free. Well, you know how we boys love to play with toys!

And - I used to drive a steam engine hauling passengers but haha only 7 1/4" narrow gauge but still, that made me an engine driver LOL.

Finally living the dream!

End of what subject? What are you grumbling about between the lines?

I have no idea what you are on about. Did I give you bad advice in your opinion? Did I force you to act on it at gun-point?

I offer my advice based on my own experience, so where did it go wrong for you then?

Hi Clive. Thanks for the material, I did a Basil Fawlty version of it on stage last night, it got a big laugh out of 'em
