Can anyone tell me why the front end of my boat tries to spin round when I select reverse trying to slowdown or stop

I can only think its something to do with the rudder position! You don't let go of the helm when you select reverse do you?

It's propellor kick, barely noticable in forward as there plenty of water flowing past the rudder, mine kicks like a mule in reverse on one engine.
You'd think the top of the prop would balance the bottom of the prop but the bottom is in denser water as it's deeper so has more paddlewheel effect pushing sideways.
It's something you learn to use eventually, I'm still on the learning curve (ie making an ar5e of it).
With an outdrive/outboard you can steer the other way to counter it but on a shaft you have to live with it.
