Hi all Whats best to use for anti foul ? Boat yard has said about using layland floor paint ! As it a inland boat ? Whats ur views ? Antifoul or not or floor paint Or floor pain the lower the anti the waterline area Totaly confused as after googling seams as if u dont use the most dearest anti foul ur be in trouble also how long will it last in n out of water
Mask up a boot-topping line about 6 inches 150mm above the dirty water-line mother nature has marked for you. If it is lop-sided correct the line by measuring down from the gunwale rubbing strake. You'll have to ballast to that later.
Now decide if you actually want a nice red or blue line and paint your a/foul about 2 inches below that. When the a/foul is dry mask a top line and paint in your boot topping.
Ok - that's the how, the answer to the what is anything cheap, or bitumen paint, but only paint that part the light "sees". No point in fresh water in doing anything more than that as all you'll ever get on the bottom is an occasional mollusc and some black slime - nothing will grow down there on a canal or inland waterway.
So you can anti-foul a 70 footer in probably 4 hours total!
Yes layland is the paint he was talking about. Could i paint the lower in that the antifol above that then boot mark above that ? Any idea on hight fron the deck seam as not had boat in the water as yet !
Ps droped the inbord idea and gone to outboard got a fuly rebuilt chrysler 30hp
It's not realy worth painting the bottom with anything other than antifoul and then use the cheapest you can get for inland use, do the waterline first as that is where the growth will be and keep going under till you run out of paint, if the very bottom doesn't get done then don't worry about it. without a previous dirty line a laden dunking in the wet stuff is the only real way to get the height for the antifoul if you want it level.
