Hello everyone,
I am a new member and looking for some advice.
I am currently looking for a first boat to buy for me and the family.
I have seen a Norman 20 for sale that looks perfect for what we want.
How do you rate these for a first boat ? and is there anything to look out for that are Norman specific as far as problems are concerned?

Many thanks

Hi DAD

I started with a Norman 20 and we had allot of good times and nights away on it. the main problem with a 20 is the headroom in the cabin but if you can work around that then go for it .just be warned, if you get the bug you ma want bigger and better down the line, we sold our 20 and bought a 23 which we also loved and we now have a sea-master 26 so be prepared to spend more at a later date. if you watch and contribute to this web site you should get all the help and info you need.

all the best in your new hobby

Sonny

Hi Sonny.
Thanks for the reply, warning taken!
We just put a deposit on it today and can't wait for our first venture.
Do you mind me asking get which marina you use?
We live in Everton so would like a to Moor at a marine in or close to St Neots.
Dad.

St.neots marina will be the cheapest marina mooring in town, there is often a mooring available at the corner of duloe brook very cheaply but theres limited access across a meadow for that.
OVRC is a members only marina and you need to be on a waiting list for another member to keel over before you get a chance and have to do your bit around the place too.
Crosshall are money grabbing gits, not sure what the rivermill is like these days.

Thanks Dave, sorry dad but have only just checked back on the site. I moor on a plot I bought on the river and dont use a marina I'm afraid but as DF said there are a few marinas around here to choose from. Best of luck and give us a wave as you pass "Grumpys toy" in little paxton
