Hi. We stupidly let our water tank run empty last weekend. After refilling it it took nearly an hour to get water coming from the tap again. Obviously the answer to this is don't let it happen again lol. But is it possible to fit some sort of priming bulb in the water pipe to prime the pump should it happen again?
You probably have one of the inline pumps that won't self prime, get a decent pressure pump and use regular taps, most of the diaphram pumps will self prime and do less damage when they run dry.
Just I little tip I found for getting the water flowing. 1. Turn on pump 2. Put your mouth over tap and suck until the water flows. It only takes a couple of seconds and it's gushing like Niagara Falls lol
Second the above, I run my dry to overwinter the boat then when refilling put a bit of hose or similar on the tap spout then suck whilst running the pump.
