Hi

I am the newest of the new ! I just bought a Norman Empress, I believe a 20 footer, with a Mariner 30 outboard, last night and am probably going to put it on the water at Bristol Docks, just as soon as I do a bit of cosmetic work and some re-wiring.

Is there a serial number I ought to look for and where will it be?

Where is a good place to go for insurance?

Does anyone know anything about this model, such as year of manufacture, spec sheets etc. and does anyone have any pictures of what the interior OUGHT to look like. Mine is a bit basic.

I will post pictures as soon as I get the boat home

Regards

John B

Hi and welcome, you won't find a serial number as such but in the bow inside hidden behind the carpeted area they usually scribbled in pencil a date. Year of manufacture can vary from late 60's to very early 80's.
Later ones had stainless grab rails on cabin roof i believe.

I find Craftinsure good, about £95 for inland river use.

Have a scan through the photos of owners boats in the Norman register or Your Norman section found on the home page for ideas.

Welcome to the nuthouse, no such thing as a norman empress as far as I am aware, is empress the name of the boat?
The aft cabin version is called a conquest and the aft cockpit version is just a norman 20.

You're right of course, Empress is not the model, it's the name of the boat - it's a Norman 20 for sure.
