Can anyone give us some pointers as to where we can get a
replacement wiper blade? Ours has perished to nothing. Or
will we have to get a complete wiper arm?

take the wiper blade with you cos the first thing that will be
asked is what car is it off (boat) then total confusion
go by the length and fitting clip

mini car ones are favourite on boats

I've tried my local motor factors, but nothing doing. The blade itself
is sort of crimped or clamped into a small stainless steel arm about
10" long. A bit like a small version of a window cleaners squeegee.
The guy at the factors looked rather blank when I showed him what
I wanted!

I replaced the rubber inserts on mine, they are vetus but the same as the cheaper wiper kits when you look closer, they just paint them white and put a name on them.....

Have a look on eBay, word of caution though, well in my case anyway. Bought a 10" stainless wiper that fits a Mini which was half the price of a "marine" one. Problem is that the boaty ones are flat blades and the one i bought has a curve like any other car wiper blade and i cannot get it to clear water properly as the spring in the existing arm isn't very strong to make it lie flat.

Just make sure the arm width is right, in my case it was 5mm.

I did just replace the rubber in my original wiper but like a prat i threw it on top of the boat whilst on my drive, forgot to refit it then it slid off en-route to the marina to launch the boat

It's not going to rain this summer so i should be ok

That sounds like a classic car one - have a look at some triumph dealers - perhaps for a TR3??

They are in stock at Jones in St Ives....

Knighty, df. Where did you get the rubber to replace just the blade?

You can buy refills from any motor factors but i tend to just keep old wipers when i change them on the cars as they usually just split on the ends then chop them down to size if needed for something smaller. Rarely a straight fit you might have to ease the clamp/clasp bits.

If i was you i would take the blade off and take it to a motor factors and see what comes close...usually a cheaper way round or buy new.
