Hi people, Can anyone tell me the best way to transport my Honda 100 4 stroke, I want to take it off the boat, put it in the back of my car and bring it home to do some service work etc, I've read somewhere you can't lay them flat because of the oil etc leaking out, but would have to do this to get it to and from?

Lay with the carb at the top as thats where the oil breather should go, it won't leak out of the gearcase, just the crankcase breather if the wrong way up.
Drain the carb float bowl or run out of juice first or your car will stink of fuel.

I don't know about the Honda 100, but subsequent models have 2 "feet" on the side of the housing that you should lay down

My Honda B100L (as purchased from Knighty and finally!! hung on the boat last weekend  ) has a diagram on it showing the corect side to lay it horizonally is with the tiller arm bracket down, this also confirms the earlier post regarding the two cast lugs or feet on the main enging casing. The other clue being the oil filler/dipstick remains upermost. Good point regarding the draining off of fuel, dint give that thought, fortunately any in my engine carb would of vapourised in the 13 months its been waiting to be fitted! |
