Hello and welcome!!

Nanni, Westerbeke and Beta are names that spring to mind, you will have to have a few £K spare though. I don't think you will get much change out of £2000. Don't forget you will need new dash gauges and almost certainly a new prop too.

If you are looking to marinise an existing automotive engine, I'm not sure there is much available that will fit in the space left by the 105e. Especially if the 105e is direct cooled. Any diesel conversion will require additional space for the heat exchanger / manifold. Have a word with ASAP and Lancing Marine they are the the suppliers of DIY conversion kits.

Beware of things like offset gearboxes / connections to drive legs...

The other thing to watch is ANY diesel will be 100 times noisier than your current engine.

I don't want to put you off, but I'm just trying to give you the full picture. If you do go ahead and replace it, I could be interested in the petrol lump though!!!

Just interested - What are you going to replace the Yanmar with ? Without a large investment it may be hard to beat if its a good runner.

Deano,
Many thanks for useful advice. Apologies for late response - been preoccupied with sorting out the daily transport. Appreciate your thoughts about diesel noise and cost. Have decided to persevere with the petrol motor for the time being, do some basic fettling and get some boating miles in.

I used to have a Freeman 22 which had a similar engine in. Most parts are still available, maintaining and rebuilding is not too hard. With an electronic ignition kit (£30 ish) slow running is a dream and most coil overheating problems (for which these are famous) can be eradicated.
