Good Morning,
When I had Penguin lifted briefly for inspection acouple of years ago when I bought her, she had a number of Zebra mussells on her bottom,
Are zebra mussells known on the canal as I do not want to start an outbreak on the Lower Grand Union if they are not, when I move there.
Other scraping them off is there any other way to get rid of the blighters

Pretty sure Zebra mussels are in the GU - The're pretty much everywhere !

If not then the Signal crayfish will have something else to feed on - the're rife down there !

Yeah, mussels are pretty much everywhere. The ones that are really annoying are those that sneak past your water strainer when they are tiny and then grow inside the pipes. I found loads of 'em inside the outboard water intake. Little gits.

Ironically, they are getting more common as our waterways become less polluted.

And I think you are not supposed to fish for signal crayfish without a licence, even though the EA wants to reduce their numbers!
