Hope this is of interest. Renovation work I have done over the last 3 months, mainly weekends and evenings.

Thanks for the positive comment Deano. It has been a lot of work but worth the effort. I have to buff and polish the hull yet and spend some large amount of wonga on the rubber fender round the gunnel.
I had to make a complete new run of fronts as they had been chopped out before.
The facia is made from 4mm sapele bonded to 12mm ext ply with exterior glue. I couldnt get 15mm sapele as original. I then jigged out the doors for the fronts and fitted new chrome hardwear I did this for the bathroom also.
The back cabin and cockpit took a lot of work, rotten bunks and no floor. |

she is looking really good :) lots of inspiration there, we are planning to do a refurb on our 32 Ayup Miduck (register 3) over the winter and get her out and painted in the spring..thanks for sharing your pics

What a transformation - congratulations and keep the pictures coming!
I', in the process of "restoring" a Norman27 (Hunky 'B') although the amount of work I need to do is tiny incomparison with your own. Nonetheless, I will be replacing the rubber gunnel fender early next year and the cheapest place I've found for a suitable (?) extrusion is at http://www.technix-rubber.com/rubber-fendering-b35.html. They charge around £175 (plus the dreaded VAT) for a 30.48 metre coil which should do "Maria Rose" all round. The product also has a rather nice pre-punched stainless steel strip insert which should look quite smart!
When you come to do the fender, how will you be attaching it to the hull? I ask because whoever last replaced this fender on "Hunky 'B'" used self-tappers at intervals, the points of which poke through the lining carpet inside the cabins. I'm also going to be placing this lining carpet and am considering using stainless steel "interbolts" from the inside (underneath the new carpet) with round-headed stainless machine screws through the insert strip screwing through holes drilled in the gunnel.

Hello Stan I think if it was the original fender then the screws would be fitted in that way. On a 32 its a B fender with the screw heads being covered with a trim. To purchase as near as original is very expensive so thanks for the link.
I have used a low price felt back carpet as light as possible to work with and glued with spray contact adhesive.

The gunwale fender on "Hunky 'B'" seems to be made of some sort of plastic and is not a B-section, but more a U-section. I suspect it is not the original but I will use the interbolts to attach the replacement I fit next year with the inside "heads" covered by the new lining carpet. I'll also araldite the inside female interbolt "nuts" to the hull (they do have a serations to grip the material through which they pass) so that I can remove the outer stainless screws without the "nuts" rotating.

Thanks Neil appreciate your comments. I try to keep the renovations to as near to original as possible. I enjoy the planning and work as much as cruising.
I hope you get mobile with your project next year.
