Dad has been down to the boat , & removed my 120Amp batt for charging , Firstly it seems to be boogered  checked voltage today @ 11.4v
Then I found out he had been charging it with a trickle charger - basically a 14v psu  I suspect this is not the charger for the job - Now I can buy a 'intelligent' charger that can pulse etc to try & bring the batt back (I have another one flat too) or do I cut my losses & buy new batts
Answers on a postcard pls

| Not sure that batteries come back from the dead miraculously! Mine don't anyway. However, should you be in the market for a clever charger I have one to offer! Would be an advantageous price of course. Its a Sealey so not an Aldi job! Could be hard wired into a boat. |

| At 11 volts it will sometimes come back to life. Depends how long it has been flat and if the plates are sulfated. Ebson salts is good for desulfating. If you can get a good charger with a boost on it you might be lucky. |

Chargers such as the ctek range have a pulsating phase which will help with desulpanating,, I have managed to bring a battery back to life with mine, but did have to leave it to cycle and charge for nearly 3 days
These chargers are good for maintainance on a regular basis as they can help to prevent suphanisation.
Around £39 they are a good investment.

Picked up today a 'Clever Charger' that pulses etc , so far the 120 amp battery is charging with no warning lights so fingers crossed !
Need to get some form of battery working so I can sort out leccys for a upcoming rush BSS to get us out for Aug BH !!

I have been very pleased with the Ctek, you may need to check with this would charge both batteries together, or alternatively you could charge both batteries independently as required and opt for the smaller charger.
The website shows the whole range.

I suspect you would have to go for one with a higher charging rate such as 15ah or 25ah to cope with two 110 batteries. They get a bit pricey!
But, then again, it does say the fateful word marine! |

Have the 110amp Leisure on charge at the mo with the Ctek charger (Dad turned it off after 24hrs as it said that was enough in the manual  )
My Old starter battery (off my old car) is stuffed - I have replaced this with a 75amp starter/leisure from Go Outdoors at the bargain price of £34 plus a few pence (With discount card) - If anyone needs such an item there was certainly a few left at our local store (However Price tag in shop is £80 / £50 discounted) I went based on the price shown in the flyer received in the mail - It showed the correct price when scanned at the till saving any arguments !

BSS passed with flying colours.....
(Thank god I put in all those hrs of work err last weekend )
Not having took the boat out for what seems forever (Last yr was Sewer tubing) phoned Dad & fetched him for a shakedown run.
Filled the tank & all good - Out of the marina , to first bridge where the trusty old honda fluffed - Bu55er - Thought water in fuel - Nope Dad hadnt attached the fuel line back on (Must check anything mechanical he does !)
A mile upstream - Plaggy bag that refused to dislodge , so a tilt up to remove.
The Soar is lower than I have seen in the past 8yrs , really could do with some rain b4 the BH .
Now all I have to do is break the news to the gaffer that I will be off for a week for the Aug BH (Dave I guess I will have to decline yr ace offer of the Wells Trip - Meet u at Boston on the Weds ?? ) A Adi n Chez Manic week trip awaits .........
Cant wait - may have to run to Sawley at the weekend
