Does anyone know if it is possible to get hold of the metal Norman badges for the side of the boat, these are the ones saying Norman and a Norman crusader at the end ?

If anyone takes this on, I'd be interested in getting a pair.

I know its an old topic but wondered if it had been solved yet ??
I was having root around in my bankside locker last week, and came across a pair of the Norman badges (the Knight with the name Norman) which
I got via this site, from Adi's dad several years ago, but never got round to fitting them,so am willing to LOAN one out to use as a template if anyone has the means to cast or 3d copy it.

Bit cropped but not bad. The brass plaque above has the words (if you) cropped on the second line. Got it done on e bay for £3. Dont think the missus has spotted it yet.lol

The bit to remember is a lot of normans were sold as bare hull or kit form so the hull may be older than other fittings, the number in the bow (if it is still there) is the best guide to hull age.

You can usually date the boat by the glass, it usually has the date and the glass makers name in the corner. When I bought my Norman 23 it was marketed as built in 1980, but all the glass is dated 1982.

The fire was in 1982 and Norman finally ceased trading shortly after that. I just noticed the reference to 1997! I think that must be a mistake as Ernie Wheeldon died in 1997. Back in the day I copied and pasted from emails from Graham and There must have been some sort of error at that time. I didn't have a bona fide proof reader!
What is the name of your Bourne 40 Wal? I had a Bourne 35 until I downsized to a Hampton Safari. Occasionally regret this but only fleetingly!

thanx trev......
the norman 266 maiden voyage was in 1997.....doesnt that mean that there was some production....?
after the fire it says most moulds were lost but some production continued.....

Yes Wal, I have got it, to be honest I have so much to update on the web site I am trying to sort out a day when I can set to and get on with it. I will!
I can say that the last Normans to be built were back in 1980/82. So 1991? Someone is telling you porkies. If you look right up inside the bows on the bare GRP you should be able to find some hand written figures. If you can find them tell us and we will be able to tell you the year.
