Eh up!!

Tidal up t' Naburn. 'T marina is above 't lock, so baint be tidal.

't next lock is way above York at Linton-no-Ouse.

Hmmmm I thought York was upstream from Naburn!

I think it is below the lock, it is on the york side.

York Marina is at Naburn seemingly! Is it above or below the lock??

What size anchor and what length of chain and rope would I need?

Yes Flinty, you are indeed correct! It is Naburn. Tis my Alzheimers! Same applies though.

Isn't naburn the tidal lock?? or is it another name for the same lock?
I use the more traditional river navigation system,ie the lock a short walk from the blacksmiths arms......

Good advice from Flinty although the Ouse does quieten down a lot above Bishopthorpe Lock.(tidal lock) Problems come with extended heavy rainfall.

It's a good idea as the yorkshire ouse can rise pretty rapidly and run like hell, don't mess about with the folding grapnell types as they don't hold very well, a danforth type lurking somewhere out of the way with a good length of rope attached just in case it's needed, a length of chain at the anchor end helps it lay down properly.
