Hi, do I need to get an anchor for my norman 23 ? It is going to be used on the river ouse Yorkshire. Also what type/size would you suggest and where/how would I attach it to the boat?

Is that top or bottom side of Bishopthorpe Lock?

It's a good idea as the yorkshire ouse can rise pretty rapidly and run like hell, don't mess about with the folding grapnell types as they don't hold very well, a danforth type lurking somewhere out of the way with a good length of rope attached just in case it's needed, a length of chain at the anchor end helps it lay down properly.

Good advice from Flinty although the Ouse does quieten down a lot above Bishopthorpe Lock.(tidal lock) Problems come with extended heavy rainfall.

Isn't naburn the tidal lock?? or is it another name for the same lock?
I use the more traditional river navigation system,ie the lock a short walk from the blacksmiths arms......

York Marina is at Naburn seemingly! Is it above or below the lock??

Tidal up t' Naburn. 'T marina is above 't lock, so baint be tidal.

't next lock is way above York at Linton-no-Ouse.
