I went yesterday to look at my new project. It's not ready for me to collect until next weekend as there's still some work to do on the trailer.

I took some pictures which I'll attach and I think you'll agree it needs a lot of work doing.

First job will be to remove everything, repair any marks and scrapes etc and paint it white.

I'll be keeping this thread updated and asking LOTS of questions along the way.

Here's how it looks right now.

Well it's been a while since I updated so here goes.

The canopy is finished and all interior woodwork is finished.

Worktop and sink finished.

Electric hook-up and double socket fitted, steering wheel and cable fitted, seat repositioned on an adjustable tower.

The hull has all been sanded apart from one small section which I'll do next visit.

Battery, cable and connections are all ready to put in for the 12v stuff, lights, radio/cd etc.

Need to spend a bit more time on her really to get her painted and finished before I miss this years summer.

The seat foam will all be recovered aswell.

Well it had to come to an end. I've got to move the boat out of it's shed and back outside so I got David from DC Hoult to come over last week and make the canopy so it can go outside.

Should be finished and fitted by the middle of next week

I also took my engine to be serviced and extended to a long shaft last week.

Still loads of other work to do but it's getting there slowly.

It sure is a bonus to be able to work undercover. Not sure how long I will be able to keep it there but it's great while it lasts.

Very impressive, a bonus being able to work undercover.
All heading in the right direction now.

good work coming along nice

Had a couple of hours to kill today so I got some of the other panels put in.

I also got a section made for the helm to hold the steering wheel mechanism and the new electric switch panel so as they're not visible from the toilet cubicle. It needs filling and sanding yet so I'll get some pics up when that's done.

It's coming along nicely.
Interesting seeing the 20 in it's stripped out form. Curios to see what looks like a hatch opening below the helm seat. Mine is carpeted over as when I bought the boat, will pull it back and have a gander underneath.

Great work Fred, its looking good!

Made a bit of progress over the last couple of weekends.
I drilled a couple of holes in the front locker and have got all the water out now at last.
I've also stripped out all of the interior as it was all swollen and rotten.

Got the scratches and gouges filled in the hull.

Started to sand it but ran out of sanding discs. That gell coat filler really clogs up the discs.

I also finished the new windscreen frames and fitted them.

When I took the carpet off the ceiling it left a lot of old adhesive and a general mess.

So I used a product mentioned in another thread, Diall paint and varnish remover and it did a great job.

Test fit of the first new panel. I have all the panels ready to fit and they've all had one coat of Sikkens Cetol stain so far. More will be added once they're all fitted and then a few coats of external diamond glaze will go over the top to protect them.

Thanks for looking and I'll update as soon as I get some more done. I should get a chance to do some more next Friday.

Thanks guys, that's great info and I shall get a couple of holes drilled on Monday.

I have removed some of the interior and the black rubber strip that runs all the way around.

Next job is to get the perspex windows in the windscreen frame that I've made. I might get them in over this weekend.

Then it's out with the gel coat filler and try n get it all flatted back ready for painting.

If you go back to page 14 in the forum posts to a topic headed Bilge pump a post by Dolly 26th? March you will see a picture of where to drill drain holes in the front bulkhead. Be prepared for a lot of water to come out and for it to take a few weeks until youve mopped up the last of it. Always assuming your taken precautions to prevent any more getting in.

I've managed to get the boat stored under cover for a while which is a bonus.

There is still some water under the cabin floor though. Ive let the jockey wheel right down so the water goes to the bow locker but not much gets there.

It looks to me like a repair has been done at some point. Is this where the drain holes would be? Have they been filled in? Is it ok for me to drill a hole back towards the cabin in the cross member for the water to escape to the bow locker?

Thanks Deano.

Got to get the rest of it out then get it dry before replacing everything.

No need to go as far as Marine ply... Far Easten is more than up to the job nad generally can be finished with varnish to quite an acceptable finish. (It's hard wood based)
