Posted - 16 Oct 2011 : 21:14:51 sorry about the misinformation' but as I should have said it was a Yamaha out'board engine and my budding mechanic is trying to sort out a problem of a revving engine it just does'nt drop back to the idling part and as I do'nt know a thing about engine's I now have what I believe is the problem as some one answered my first request. 'the butterfly valve' I hope.

Posted - 16 Oct 2011 : 21:02:46 Try this, suprised any dealer that services outboards don't know what it is. If you look at the link under BASICS it is another name for a throttle valve.
