Hi all,

Just bought some Cray Valley encore 30 unsaturated polyester resin for doing a few repairs on my Norman 17. The technical data sheet on the the website states that the resin has a shelf life of six months.

http://www.mbfg.co.uk/user/datasheets/encore_30_tech.pdf

I'm just wondering if I don't get around to using it all in the next six months, should I then not use any that is left over?

Is there a way of telling whether resin is gone past it's best, I presume it starts going off in the container?

Also does the catalyst have a shelf life at all?

Thanks

Thanks df, that's good to know, in that case hopefully I'll get to use it all so. I guess it is best to use it up as soon as I can.

Thanks again

You can tell when polyester resin gts too old, it sets, the hardner is pre-mixed with the resin and it's just a catalyst you add so as long as it's still runny go for it, the pot life times may be shorter though.
I've used cray valley stuff after 18 months in a sealed container ok but if left unsealed in a hot area it will cure on it's own eventually.
