Can some one please advise how to upload a photo. I think they have to be reduced

I normally resize just using mspaint for uploading.
500kb is the size limit, much bigger tends to cause huge scroll bars making reading the forum a pita anyway.
If I take a piccie on my phone I find resizing to 30% of original leaves a good size image with smaller filesize.
