Went away last week on return journey engine went dead and refused to restart.I was in the middle of nowere no tools nothing.I couldn't leave the boat were it was had to get a tow or someone to come and fix it.to cut a long story short after hours of trying to find someone the only offer I could get was an offer of a tow back to marina at a cost of two hundred quid I was disgusted how can people take such advantage of other people's desperate situation.
Just hope that the saying, What goes round comes round, happens to them in a bigger way. Was it a Boatyard that robbed you? if so name them so it can be Boycotted. Hope things turn out ok.
Might be worth considering that, for less than £200 you can subscribe to Canal & River Rescue. Not sure if you could have subscribed and asked for help at the same time though!
If you call Canal and River rescue as a non member, you are charged £75 for that call out BUT you must also subscribe to Silver or Gold service for the year at the same time. Total cost therefore is about £240 for 5 call outs relay and engine repair + parts if you have a service record.
