My boat is finally getting lifted out of the water (Norman 23 MK3) so that I can fix the holes left by sea toilet and depth finder. The engine wouldn't Idle when I bought her so a friend towed her to my mooring spot, but she ran smoothly when he put it in gear and increased the revs. The idle screw was missing so I'm hoping that the replacement one I've found will sort out the idle issue. I start it by putting it in neutral (can use the prop to check if its neutral) but then I'm a little stuck on gearing. Do these things just have one gear? i.e. once out of neutral is it just a rev and go type situation? (engine is an old Honda 100)

cheers

Rev & go yes, you have forward, neutral and reverse gears so when hte prop spins freely that is of course neutral.

Finally living the dream!

There should be a button somewhere on the control unit so you can increase revs without engaging gear. Some are in the centre of the lever, some are seperate to it. Just push the button in and move lever forward at the same time.
