Well made an offer on the storebro but it seems the previous owner died and left it to charity so they have to submit the offer to a bunch of charities to choose wether to accept or decline, apparently a higher offer was lost a while back as they took so long to respond so not going to hold my breath on it.

Sounds interesting dave. I would of thought a charity would of took anything for it as they won't want ongoing costs like mooring and such like

And I doubt dover marina is a cheap option, unless they are just doing a favour as it's a charity sale, it seems to be getting moved around the marina.

Been blown out!

quote:
I submitted your offer to the solicitor. It has been rejected. They want the full asking price that is not subject to survey or sea-trial.

It seems they want me to pay £25k for a boat that I've not heard run and not seen the underside of!! I declined politely (ish)....
I did ask that they pass on my thanks for a wasted day and tank of fuel and my best wishes for someday regaining a grip on reality.

I would have been livid. How the hell do they expect to sell a boat at that price without a survey or a decent sea trial which the boat is (or should be ) capable of.

I thought I was up against it when I bought my Freeman, last owner would only budge a fraction on price, grumbled when I said I was having a survey then said the price would be the same regardless of what the survey threw up. Turned out good in the end.

A cheap boat you could take a risk but not a £25k one.

It seems the solicitor involved is also getting peed off with it, theres 11 charities involved and none have asked the broker for any advice on selling boats, it's running up moorings fees and if left too long will be worth less than the bills owed.
Rhymes with 'anchors'....

Just been having a look at the photos and does look a quality boat at a good price even at £25k but it would be brave man who would stump up the money without a survey.

They probably are getting the mooring fees waived for a while but, yes, they should get a grip and shift the boat.

Last year a mate tried to buy a house in a similar situation. The offer went to a solicitor acting on behalf of 7 or 8 different people. They all had to agree before it could proceed. So it didn't proceed.

It only takes one to object or to want to play "hardball".

Anyhow, it wasn't meant to be, Dave. Somewhere there is another boat with your name on it. Funny name for a boat, really.

Don't be silly Ian, even I wouldn't call a boat 'Tw*t'.
Then again......

Thats a lot of boat for £25K. Assuming it had a clear survey.... BUT with those engines I would not touch it without a full hull survey and an engine/mechanical survey.

Do you know how much spares are for those engines???

Well someone has put in an offer of the full £25k with out survey or sea trial on the storebro, brave sods (or rich gits), I hope it turns out to be a good one for them, would very much have liked it for myself but thats a hell of a risk.

Is that on a canalised part then Trev ?

I recall lots of fun trying to raise a mile stretch with one dodgy paddle when we did the pennines run when the river sections were high!

Have you got your Handspike ?
