Hi all As my wife moans at the slightest cold weather I thought is might be a good investment to fit a propex heater. Has anyone done this or had any experience of em good or bad? |

Is the webasto gas or diesel? The diesel ones run well on parafin and you can use a portable outboard tank on a bayonet fitting if you have a petrol outboard. Good bits of kit. Gas ones seem to cost more to run.

Hello Steve,
I fitted a Propex warm air heater last year. 1 outlet into the cabin and one to the rear cabin. Straight forward job. Works very well. Go for it. |

Hi I fitted a Propex two years ago, running on Propane. Its about the size of a shoe box, fits under the floor of the hanging locker (Norman 23)and I have two outlets, one to the cabin and one right on the feet of the helmsman! A 3.9kg propane runs it for about 40 hours - it only comes on for 5 minutes every half an hour (a little more if we are out in the middle of winter), so a canister will comfortably last for a very cold week out.
It has extended our season to year round - and the Broads are at their best in the winter. Best thing we did.
Do it! |

Well the Webasto arrived and I sent for a boat exaust fitting (so it don't melt the side of my boat) I decided to connect everything up and bench test it in my garage first as I didn't want to go to all that trouble to find it not working. So after conecting it all up it went through its first cycle and fired up lovely. Apart from cutting a hole in the side of my boat for the exaust exit it was all pretty straight forward. Tubes - Air in, hot air out, exaust out, combustion air in, fuel in. Wires - battery conection, fuel pump power, heater control, thermostat. Connect it up and bobs your uncle not warm, HOT boat. Happy wife
I would recomend it to anyone it Deffo makes a difference, can't wait to sleep on her. |
