I bought my Norman 23 last year; it was moored on the Lancaster canal and, over the summer, I brought it home to Chester. We had to cancel a holiday to Spain because my wife had a virus, so I took her to Wigan and she helped me cruise the Bridgewater canal (what more could a girl want?).

The boat is in good condition generally, but the window rubber seals have perished. Does anyone know of a company that could help? I'm not good at DIY, but if it is an easy job, I'd try myself.

This is my third Norman and I'm really happy to have found the website.

Its not an easy job at all even for a reasonable DIY'er. You might take an inference from that of it also being expensive to get someone to do them. Its not cheap but some folk have used these people in Leeds with excellent results.

Kellett Engineering of 59, Hill Top Road, Armley, Leeds, West Yorks. LS12 3PX.

We used a company called AC WINDOWS. Fantastic people. Check them out on t'internet. The best thing about them is they will come to your boat and cut the windows to fit there and then. A great price too.

Thanks to all for the replies. Looking at the pictures of Norman 23 boats on this site, mine is a Mk 1.

The only thing I'd like to change on the boat is the Houdini hatch, which is plastic. On a previous Norman 23 (many years ago) the hatch was glass with an aluminium frame. To change the plastic one would be difficult as there is nothing to screw a metal frame to.

We replaced all the window seals last year on our mk1 23 an both me and my mate had to take the next day off of work as our arms seemed to have stopped working!
Seriously the best advice is if you do it yourself take your time and pick a warm day as the seal is much easier to work into place.
Best of luck.
P.S. we used seals direct and they were great.

Hi i have a norman 20 in which every window seems to leak, the front two are perspex and are crazed with seals gone,i tried captains creeping crack and leak sealer ,no avail?
I was considering silicon for a temp bodge but i would rather spend some cash and get them refurbished.
I have searched the web for yonks looking for a company to do the work, which i to get done in early spring 2014,weather permitted.

I live in north west england and contacted EAGLE BOAT WINDOWS in nelson, they have NORMAN window templates and gave me a quote for the front two cabin windows@ £112 per window, however you have to remove and fit yourself, you send them the old window parts, they make new !

I have not contacted KELLET windows for a quote yet but will phone them this week to find out?

D174812H !I have googled AC windows ,cannot find the company at all,can you post a link?
What part of the uk are you in? All in all,i would rather have a company come a take windows out ,then refit the new ones!
Thanks!

We did the windows on our 22 18 months ago. We got the seals and inserts from Seals Direct, they were very helpful, GET THE FITTING TOOL its like a screwdriver with a hook on the end, costs about £10.00 but worth it.
As has been said take your time, better with 2 people, do it in summer, read the instructions, and for any older car mechanics don't try to fit them like a windscreen with string.

How difficult ? depends on your skills, if you have difficulty fitting an electric plug then best get somebody in, if you are a reasonable DIY'er its fine.

That's my twopenneth worth
