I have a Yamaha 9.9hp, 4 stroke Outboard (2002) which performs great except when I move the helm wheel to Portside I get a bad vibration which I have established is on the outboard itself. All steering cables etc are ok.
It sounds very much like 2 parts of the outboard are touching as they move across each other ?
Has anybody experienced this problem, and if so, what is the solution.
Thanks !

Most outboards have rubber bushes between the engine unit and the transom bracket, has one of these failed?

Thanks, its certainly worth investigating. If this is the case, does anyone know if it is much of a job. I am pretty handy with most engine diy tasks so I guess it would not phase me if it needed to be done.
Any pointers would be useful.

Is this bush visible from the side of the outboard ?
