At the moment we have a cooker which comprises of an oven, grill and two ring burner. We want to remove this and in its place have a 12v/mains cooler. Above this new set up we want to have a 'camping' type two ring burner and grill. Will the original gas feed be ok for the new cooker? Also, will the new cooker have to be fixed in place, or can it be portable? And will this have any effect on our boat safety certificate?
Firstly - Dont remove your old calor, they will outlast you with care !
Second - A camping cooker is not acceptable for BSS (See the label for outside use only!) Some use them on canisters & hide for the BSS man !!!!
Thirdly - A 12v/mains cooler will destroy your batteries! If you have an inboard you can use with the motor running but even so the drain is high (We ran one in our first few outings 10yrs ago as it came with the boat - With a 55amp alternator even turning the spot on at the same time put the ammeter into the red !
Sorry - no good news really - Apart from its amazing what can be cooked on the old calor !
