Hello again all.
I've just bought a Norman 20, and wonder if there is a way to find out roughly the age of the boat?
I can't find any obvious markings on her, although I'm yet to search behind the linings etc.
However, she's still in original gel coat hull and topsides, and this is coloured cream. I suspect that she's a later model boat based on the colour of the gel possibly? Also, much of her interior is in GRP rather than woodwork - should this give any clue?
I can't post a photo at the moment as I've not got one - but will do in the next few days. In the meantime, any pointers about where in the production runs cream gelcoat was used or how else from the style or layout a Norman 20 can be dated would be useful?
Best wishes,
James.
PS I'd love to 'register' onto the site but the registration page says 'currently not open to new members' - any idea when the new site will be launched? |

Hi, if you pull the carpeted area back a bit on the port side in the bow there is usually a hand scribbled year wrote somewhere. Later models had stainless instead of wood hand rails on the cabin roof. On mine which is a 1979 the windscreen glass has a BS kite mark with 79 stamped on it, don't if that is just coincidence as it being a 1979 manufactured boat.

You were given an explanation here..... http://www.normanboats.co.uk/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6904
No point in going on about it unless of course you are stepping up to the plate to help rebuild the website.
