Well it hasn't stopped raining hard here all day (literally, hasn't stopped at all). The lane outside my house has turned into a river (never happened before). Half of town has been evacuated and the water is inches from the top of the arches of the medieval bridge, which is a quarter of a mile up stream from my boat. I don't think I can even get down to the boat, as the access is likely flooded as well. High tide isn't until 3am tomorrow, and the rain doesn't look like relenting before then.
Luckily we're not on spring tides at the moment, but still I think my boat is more than a bit vulnerable! I will update later/tomorrow, fingers crossed it won't be more bad news after my outboard ordeal.  |

I went down to my boat today. Tucked up in a marina on the Gt Ouse. Nothing as scary as your mooring,..... BUT...
All was well on arrival, just a bit of wet grass to walk around. Bit of a step up onto the boat. Did a few jobs, tinkered about a bit for about 2 hours.
When I came to leave, the water had risen over the mooring!!! I had to get my feet wet and walk on the submerged mooring for about 100 yards until I came to a slightly higher bit. I then had a bit of a sloppy walk along the grass. I can't believe it came up that fast.
Now worried the house might flood!!!!

She was still there this morning, although has taken a bit of a battering. A combination of the wind and what looks like about an 8 knot current means that she keeps bashing into the concrete quay. Got a couple of extra fenders on the side now, so hopefully that will give enough protection.
It's a bit worrying seeing large logs and fence posts come floating down the river and clouting the bow at those speeds though. I wish I could get her out of the water (when it calms a bit!), but a combination of no engine, tides, weather, and time are all conspiring against me. |

| Glad i have taken my boat off as the Avon has rose 3.4 mtrs, 1.5 mtrs less than 2007 but loads of road closures etc. |

I think we are above 2007 levels on the Soar, Unsure on the Trent as I havent been as far as Sawley , but from local reports its close or worse.
Trent is still rising but whether it will reach 2000 levels its unsure.
Seems a little Ironic that as Easter we were on limited opening on the GU & were looking at alternatives for our trans pennine trip due to lack of water !
