Hi all

Was looking for some advice on the small electric outboards that are available. I was thinking about getting one as a backup. I have a reliable 2008 Mariner 15 but would like a backup & don't really fancy fitting an additional small engine to the back of my Norman 20.

I've found a few on ebay for around £100 and was wondering if ithey would be enough for me to limp home if I had problems. I only use my boat inland and after a bit of research, it seems that 50lbs is equivalent to 1HP.

Would be interested if anyone has had any experience with these? Here's an example
of what I'm talking about.

this looks like a 24v model that would give you problems
your outboard I suspect charges at 12v
you would need a linked battery system 24v to run it

Seen similar on row boats & also on a 22ft Dawncraft Dandy - This moved slowly but didnt stop at all !!! (It was a useful stealth auxiliary for a guy at a yard to return home from the pub late at night without disturbing folk!)

You will be in trouble on the Medway with one I suspect !
