Just bought myself a new mooring for my renovated Norman 20 'Sylk Lady'.I was happy with myself until i enquired about a new canal licence....wow £499 per year....robbing sods! How do they come up with figues like this. It's cheaper for me to insure my car for 12 months ! Suppose i dont have any choice...do i
This is my first licence application having 'got the bug' and whilst a was aware that boating is a money pit, i was suprised at how much a licence is

Just renewed our licence: £769.21. It sure ain't a cheap hobby...
Btw, there is a significant discount for "Prompt Payment". The saving is about 10% but I don't know whether it applies to new licences. |

We are on the Gt Ouse and paid the EA £400 for the boat and £80 for the tender!!!
We could have chosen to pay and additional 20% to navigate the Cam all the way to Cambridge, but we chose not to!!!!!

Mooring fees are not the same as licence fees, they are on top.

Just had my Avon Navigation licence renewal yet again another 15% rise. That's an approx 15% increase every year since I have had my boat that's around 50% in three years Wouldn't mind if they did anything, number of times after floods the lock mooring where you wait to enter the locks get obstructed by tree trunks/branches etc by the weirs and when you phone them they say it's EA's responsibility not the trusts. |
