I notice from looking at various photos that some restorers are using carpet style coverings on the floor and seating areas.This i assume is to give that feeling of warmth or comfort in the cabin area.
I would be interested in knowing if there is a preferred material/ quality for this. Due to the nature of its use i guess it would have to be easily manipulated around the moulding of the seating and floor. Also, should i use a standard carpet spray adhesive.
I am considering fitting out my 20 in this way so i would be interested in any ideas.

On "Hunky 'B' I used carpet tile from b&q (you cannot see the joins once they are stuck down) for the "dinette". Rather than try and cut the tiles around the table pedestal base, I unscrewed this. If you table arrangement is the same, you will find a circular hole - just fix the flooring over the hole and trim out when the glue has dried when you can then reinsert the pedestal base and screw the into position.

| I use the cheap and cheerful cord type carpet from Carpetright on the cabin and cockpit floors, last bit cost around £11-12 pound so no big deal to replace it. Last years is still looking good, i stuck it down with double sided carpet tape from B&Q for about £3-4 a roll, sticks it down well to the grp floor. My side seating bits and bow area is still original and in good nick so left that as be. |

Mine, in the "another Norman 20 restoration" pics is felt backed £4.99 a metre from Carpetright. I bought this following searching on this forum, and have only just put it in at the weekend, so have no idea how it will fare.
Whilst they were cutting out what I needed, I popped over the road to B&Q and bought their spray carpet adhesive @ £4.99 a can. I may have been a bit generous with it, so used an entire can for the walls and bench sides, so need to get another can in order to glue the floor carpet down. |

The thinnest gel backed carpet is ideal as it doesn't slide and is easy to clean mud off and doesn't reduce headroom too much, every mm is valuble on a norman.

Hi, I managed to source a commercial grade gel backed polypropeline offcut when changing mine. It's been superb over the winter. Stay clear of natural fibres as they rot. When you use spray glue make sure you glue both the fibreglass and the rear of the carpet before applying for a permanent bond
