Hi Gang

Need to replace both my throttle cable and also the gear cable to enfield zdrive. have never seen inside of remote, am sure i can just replace inner of throttle cable, looks just like brake cable engine end. not got a clue about gear cable. any help would be good. how easy are they to change and set up?

Steve you have to replace the whole cable inner and outer as they are a sealed unit. In the remote its easy to remove the cable hat is important is setting it up for the throw into gear before the throttle kicks in.
There should be a size written on the outer cable ends. I would tape the new cable to the old and pull it through if possible.

If you get the exact cable (ends not total length of cable) then you can count how many turns the end fitting takes to come off, this will let you have to make minor adjustments only.
You need to have the gear throw completely into gear, then when you move the lever a little more the throttle cable will start to engage.
You can check the full engagement forward and reverse at the lever arm on the leg. Then I would connect the throttle cable which is easier.

The remote should do the 'gear before throttle' bit for you, the rest is just making sure the neutral position is well centred on the outdrive gear lever, it will probably be a 33c cable avaible in most lengths with 3/16" unf end threads which take most fittings.
