Have you got some type of rudder fitted.
Just wondering if something may be fouling your propfrom the boat itself. |

I suspect that problems aside , once you clear the towns you will be ok .... Maybe some of the shallower sections of the shroppie will be a prob but in general you should make it home

It seems odd that the boat has come all this way with no issues, unless you`re in the same spot still.
I would have said the Trent Mersey is as shallow up past Shardlow.
I can`t remember any issues with Rugeley bring shallow this summer. |

| I heard the odd little bump underneath now and then on the trent, not really till I'd got to Burton, from Fradley onwards there seemed to be more, then at Rugeley it got quite bad, first case of losing the pin and from there to milford seemed very patchy lots of little bumps but only a few long ones. Didn't get anything done today due to work changes but will post the pictures when I'm home later on |

You've got a Norman 20 right? That needs a so-called long-shaft motor - height from anti cavitation plate - that's the horizontal plate above the prop - to top of transom where the motor clamp sits should be 22 - 23 inches.
Your old Tomos is the sort of motor that - if it goes be grateful - but meantime hunt around for something you can still get parts for. Tomos haven't made engines for ages although they did make a natty line in mopeds for a while up to the mid 90's. They made outboards up to the mid 80's and quit. There really aren't that many parts lying around for them as this Yugoslav company quit outboards after the war.

Assuming the transom hasn't been cut down at some stage because someone had a short shaft motor, then put a long shaft motor on it...

Well heres the pictues you asked for folks.
I realise they have quit making outboards a long long time ago, I have tracked down the old importer who is meant to be sending me the workshop manual, as for now its a bit get it home then look at what I can buy, fix, replace.
Seriously folks cheers for all the help with this.

The 3 foot was before I figured how to change the angle and have less in the water, plus t was dark.
Hmm guess it's just shallow water then.

The transom looks standard to me and the legth looks fine, it must be a crud filled ditch problem.

All looks fine with the set up.
With the problems which you have had I would have expected more prop damage, and the skeg seems O.K.
If the leg hits the bottom the skeg is the lowest pointy bit and the bump/grind will cause the outboard to jump up. As it`s also locked down you get a nasty bump on the transom area.
Try where possible to keep in the centre and see how it goes.
Mine have the rubber bush but I sustain more damage than that.
The shear pins probably are shearing too readily but at least the prop is saved.
Hopefully it will improve as the canal deepens.

I reckon you have been really unlucky !
The pics show a fairly std setup - Maybe all of us with bushed props are lucky!
Once you are on the Shroppie I think you will be fine - you may see some rubbish along the staffs, but the worst we have had is a few bags !
Push it on home - Out of interest , are you just leaving the boat & travelling home ? Quite brave in this day & age
