Sorry guys - I've been struggling fo a while now to get this swine out of the work machine. I have no idea how it got there.
I have to get the files stripped out of the machine first that I need asnd I'll be formatting this weekend asnd reloading clean.
How the HELL does it get your email addresses? I'm sure we never corresponded before?
Anyway, to one and all - I apologise. It IS a work machine and there is loads of stuff I simply must save first, not least of which are the driver files. Unforunately, the one thing that no longer works is the disc burn facility, so I have had to get new software for that which goes in tomorrow.

I wouldn't go saving or backing up anything from that machine until it's clean. The easiest way to clean is to use system restore, and restore the pc to a date proior to the infection. Then backup and re-install.
The above assumes that you have system restore active. On Win7, try start - type "system restore" (without quotes wq) and see (1) is it active, (2) what restore dates are available. On WinXP IIRC, start - run - "restore" (wq).
Modern trojans and viruses are multi-faceted and live in the registry, in files on disk, in old ini files etc all at the same time. Theyare very hard to repair, the system restore is a silver bullet solution.
If you're not using system restore, start using it. Best antivirus of all.
