There was me worrying about tunnels, never thought about low bridges! Received several heartening responses on my tunnels post and now need to know urgently if any of you have taken a Norman 22 the likes of mine (Greyling) through Lumb Lane Bridge no 21 on the Ashton. This is shown as being very low, 6ft clearance now amended to 6ft 4ins following measurement by BW.
Adi did you get through with no problems bearing in mind my windsceen frame is fixed?
Yep thats a low one and another on the middle levels that I came through with a N32 only 1" to spare. You should have no problem with a Norman 22 at Lumb lane. I go through with some old wooden narrowboats boats twice a month, but dont have sunbathers on the roof when you go through, if you have any doubts make a guaging stick from the water line to the highest part of the boat.
Sadly I'm not able to gauge the waterline exactly as Greyling is on its trailer at the moment and should have been launched tomorrow to accompany friends in a steel narrowboat around the Cheshire Ring. My estimated waterline gives me a minimum height of 6'3" but as I will be on my own for this trip "Greyling" may well be riding higher in the water. So at the moment trying to decide whether to risk it or not.
