I bought a norman 23 with a friend a few years ago with the intention of his brother re fitting it!! Unfortunatly not much has been done and i am now left with is to try and finish!! I am based on the leeds liverpool canal in adlington near chorley and am desperate for someone to talk to about getting this project underway. I am up for doing alot of the work myself with some guidance from a kindly soul if I can find one lol Is there anyone out there who could be on hand to help me with some e mail support? Tim
I'll offer what e-mail support I can and you can contact me through the e-mail address in the members section.
Try and attach photos with your queries if they are specific about something on the boat and make sure you have Adobe Acrobat on your pc if I attach a sketch as illustration. It's free to download.
On reflection, can you not post on the forum here? It occurs to me that this is what the forum is all about, posting problems, everyone able to contribute answers or opinions, and in the process others who wander by may benefit from reading the questions and observations and responses.
The cost of boating is insignificant compared to costs of a young wife and two teenage kids!
Clive is right, post your questions and problems on here. Clive himself is an absolute mine of information for the type of project you are taking on but you will also get comments and suggestions from others which will compliment this.
Good luck and keep us supplied with pictures as you progress.
As Clive and Trevor have said, put any queries on here with pictures and you will get your answers. This forum is a mine of good and sound information.
With any project take your time and don't try to do to much at once but its always best to have a couple of jobs on at the same time then if you get stuck on one you have something else to do and the trip to the boat is not wasted.
Good Luck and keep asking questions no matter how daft they may seem.
I bought my Norman 23 three Easters ago and thought I could gut the whole boat and rebuild from scratch during the first summer. This is now the third summer and hopefully she will be on the water by the end of it, but I have done all the work myself with help from this forum and have now broken the back on the work. Think of how long it will take to do a job and double it at least.
And don't be afraid to cruise to the local riverside pub on a part finished boat, it will remind you why you want to carry on, it's easy to lose heart working away on a project when you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
