Hi everyone, Misty my norman 20 has now been in the water a week now after about 6 years on a trailer. What a lovely boat. Have spent a few days cruising down the Medway in preperation for the trip to the maidstone river festival. She zig zags a bit but getting used to not overcomponsating at the wheel. Weather permiting i hope to spend a lot more time on the river. Dave.
Glad to hear you're out and about! Now all we need is some decent weather.
Looks like things are improving. I'm chancing a trip Ripon/York/Ripon with an overnight stop at Naburn Marina (easy access to good pub and grub in Naburn and good showers/hairdryers for the Mehemsahib) on Monday/Tuesday. Was in York last night and the river has peaked and has already dropped to a navigable level. Might even get the hood down if the forecast holds good!
Thats a lovely bit of river but it rises and falls very quickly after heavy rain, pub in naburn does an excellent steak & ale pie (and beer apparently), weather looks like early next week should be good for you.

Ha Ha - tell me about it. Was out November before last with a mate overnighting and the river was 2-3' above normal when we set off. We moored (sensibly) on a floating pontoon at Newby Hall and in the morning awoke to find the river had risen a further 6' overnight. So we left the boat and walked back to collect the car. The 6' rise dropped within 24 hours and I was able to retrieve (much to my surprise) the boat the next day - although it was pretty quick trip back downstream to Boroughbridge!
